Our wide selection of protective films is the same group of products we have used every day in our own facilities for over 55 years. We have films for stainless, aluminum, painted or coated metals, in addition to protective films that are necessary during shipping, handling, cutting, bending, stamping, laser cutting or deep drawing operations. Our specialty is to help our customers solve film problems. We review the specifics of the film application, the substrate and downstream processes. With that information, we do the leg work, recommend the right film for the job and eliminate the frustration of trying a number of products without success. This saves our customers time, money and frustration. We have experienced film specialists within the company who are always available to problem solve as well as having ready access to our partners technical group.

Locations & Lead Times
Main Steel has two facilities in close proximity to the leading metals markets in the country and can ship coast to coast with ease. Having floor stock of our standard products at all of our facilities gives us the advantage of shipping to our customers in 1-2 days. Larger quantities or more complex orders usually ship in less than one month.

We carry both water and solvent based materials to meet your technical specifications with shelf life of 6 months to a year dependent upon your requirements. Main Steel carries clear, blue and B&W films in stock in standard sizes from 36 – 72″.

Many of our customers have a need for a film to stay on the metal outdoors during storage or installation. We offer a variety of special products that can protect the material from UV rays for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months.

We are proud to carry Novacel Laser film. The 4228REF is a unique combination of an engineered film backing with a proprietary adhesive that works on both CO2 and Fiber Optic lasers. The result is a laser tape that resists ‘blow-ups’ during laser cutting, provides protection of the parts during cutting and handling, and can be removed with minimal effort. The reliability and consistency of the Novacel product will reduce downtime and maximize the productivity of your laser equipment due to the elimination of the need to etch the film first. Scrapping or reworking parts due to damage during cutting or handling can be reduced, saving time and money.

Drawing or bending your material can cause some unique problems during processing. Main Steel has a number of films that can eliminate the tearing, sliding and marring of your metal (even in double draw situations) and enable you to utilize 100% of your material. We carry films that can handle small draws or bends (under 2″); medium draws (2-4″); and deep draws (4-10″) without a problem and can be removed easily and cleanly.
