Company History
Main Steel’s origins began over a half-century ago when Thomas A. Mallan’s inspiration took shape. His company began as a one-line sheet polisher in the Bronx, New York, in 1956. Tom’s strategy: to supplement the polishing work that local distributors already did. Once the company began to flourish in New York, Tom turned his thoughts to serving additional markets and began Main Steel’s expansion into Atlanta in 1973. This was soon followed by the opening of other facilities in Chicago, New Jersey, Maryland, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Dallas, which helped establish the company as a leading toll processor and polisher of stainless and aluminum in North America. This success led to the establishment of a division that provided protective film products to the metals industry-again becoming a North American premier supplier.
